Former Traficant Attorney Pleads Guilty To Bank Fraud

WCBE files

A staff attorney for the late former Ohio Democratic Congressman Jim Traficant who testified at his corruption trial has pleaded guilty to federal bank fraud charges. 51-year-old R. Allen Sinclair faces  charges related to a real estate scheme that bilked 147 thousand dollars from investors. Sentencing is scheduled for May 10. Sinclair made headlines in 2002 when he testified he kicked back 25 hundred dollars  a month from his congressional salary to Traficant, who served seven years in federal prison on bribery and other charges. Traficant died in 2014 after a tractor tipped over on him.
