Bill Would Add Exemptions To State's Indoor Smoking Ban

A newly introduced bill would legalize indoor smoking at more private clubs. The bill co-sponsored by Senate Minority Leader Joe Schiavoni and Republican Senator Bill Seitz would permit smoking in cigar clubs and other private groups, even if the club is next to other buildings. It would also allow smoking in private clubs with one occupant or if multiple occupants have separate ways to get outside. It also removes a requirement that a club must be a nonprofit and not have employees. Anti-smoking advocates claim there is no need to change the law.
