A study by Ohio Operation Lifesaver shows 12 people died last year when trains hit their vehicles at crossings, triple the number killed in 2014. There was also a 60-percent jump in pedestrian-train deaths last year, blamed on victims who had been drinking or wearing headphones while walking along tracks.
