Huntington Buys Naming Rights For Cleveland Convention Center

Columbus-based Huntington Bank is buying the naming rights to the Cleveland Convention Center ahead of the Republican National Convention this summer for 8 million dollars. Most rebranding is set to happen during the next several weeks. The exterior signage will be installed this summer before the convention. The deal calls for Huntington bank to pay Akron-based FirstMerit 500 thousand dollars to assume its agreement with Cuyahoga County for the naming rights. Huntington also would pay the county more than 400 thousand dollars a year for 20 years. FirstMerit purchased the naming rights last fall for 10 million dollars over 20 years.
