Charges Dismissed Against Three Ohio Men Who Spent 20 years In Prison

wksu.org

Three East Cleveland men have been declared free by a judge after serving 20 years in prison for a murder they didn't commit. 38-year-old Eugene Johnson Junior, 38-year-old Derrick Wheatt and 37-year-old Laurese Glover were charged in a fatal shooting in 1995, but a judge yesterday approved a prosecution request to drop the charges. Johnson says the ruling was a long time coming.

The Ohio Innocence Project uncovered withheld evidence and other instances of misconduct by prosecutors. A judge last year ruled the men deserved a new trial.
