Suspect In Fatal Robbery Attempt Gets Four Years Behind Bars

Columbus Division of Police

A Columbus man will serve four years in prison for his role in a fatal shooting last summer in a west side parking lot. 23-year-old Christopher Prater was charged with another suspect in the death of Raheem Dearmond and the wounding of Toure Benton in a lot off Demorest Road in a drug deal that went bad. The other suspect, Joviyon Turner, is serving a life prison sentence.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
