Cleveland Schools, Teachers Union Reach Contract Agreement To Avoid Strike

The Cleveland school district and its teachers union have reached a tentative contract agreement that avoids a strike planned to start on Thursday. District CEO Eric Gordon says terms are being withheld.

The main sticking point was a teacher evaluation formula that would impact salaries and job security. The school board and union members must ratify the contract. The two sides haven't announced a schedule for voting. District and union negotiators have been working with a federal mediator.
