Columbus fire officials have suspended the "Fill the Boot" charity event after a vehicle struck a firefighter Friday at the intersection of North High Street and North Broadway. As part of the campaign, firefighters stand at intersections holding boots people can fill with donations to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Columbus Division of Fire officials would not release the firefighter's name, but say he sustained a broken leg and remains hospitalized in stable condition. The driver has yet to be charged. City officials say they will review safety protocols.
