Ginther Submits 2017 Columbus City Budget Proposal

Neighborhoods are the focus of Columbus Mayor Andy Ginther's first budget. Ginther unveiled a nearly 870 million dollar spending plan yesterday, less than a week before he is required by law to submit it to City Council. The proposal sets money aside for a Department of Neighborhoods, preschool programs and recreation centers. As is common practice, nearly three-quarters of the budget will fund public safety, including the hiring of more police officers and firefighters. Neighborhoods were also the focus of the annual budgets released by Ginter's predecessor, Michael Coleman.
