Thanksgiving Holiday Travel Expected To Rise By Two Percent

The American Automobile Association predicts more than 2 million Ohioans will travel 50 miles or more from home this Thanksgiving holiday, an increase of 2 percent from last year and the highest number since 2005. Nationally, the auto club predicts 48.7 million Americans will travel over the holiday, which is also an increase over last year. Spokesperson Susan Hiltz credits gasoline prices that are lower than at this time last year and an improving economy.

90 percent of Ohioans will travel by road, which is up 2.4 percent from last Thanksgiving. More than 144 thousand Ohioans will fly to their destination, up five-tenths of a percent from last year.
