The state Controlling Board has approved spending 1.3 million dollars to fund the next phase of construction of a new Buckeye Lake dam. A private firm will perform design work and other pre-construction activities for phase two of the 110 million dollar project. The state is replacing the nearly 200 year old earthen dam after the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers concluded it is at risk of catastrophic failure. The second phase is scheduled to begin next March.
