A Licking County man has been sentenced to life in prison for killing his mother last September. 34-year-old Russell Littrell was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to killing 54-year-old Ruth Hackney, whose body was found by authorities performing a welfare check at her River Forest Road home near Pataskala. Prosecutors say Littrell fatally cut Hackney's throat about two weeks before the body was found. Littrell was convicted by a jury in 2013 for domestic violence for threatening Hackney and another woman and harming his mother. He also pleaded guilty to a domestic violence charge in 2003. Littrell has said he has mental health and substance abuse issues.
