Man Convicted Of Killing Former OSU Football Player Gets 25 Years In Prison

New Orleans Advocate

The man convicted of killing former Ohio State and NFL defensive end Will Smith was sentenced in Louisiana yesterday to 25 years in prison.  John Fuller is the attorney who represents Cardell Hayes.

Hayes shot and killed Smith last September during a road rage incident in New Orleans.  Smith's wife says she wished the judge had handed down a tougher sentence.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
