The Ohio Center for History, Art and Technology and Ohio State University’s Newark campus are teaming up to build a 2.1 million planetarium in downtown Newark. The facility called "SciDome" will be at The Works home on South First Street. It will feature 30-foot dome with 4k digital projection and can hold up to sixty people. Officials say it will provide multiple learning opportunities for students and the general public in a number of science-related fields. Officials say urban light pollution necessitates the creation of the facility. Groundbreaking is scheduled for early June, with the facility expected to open sometime next year.
