SUPCUS Again Rejects Challenge Of Ohio Ballot Procedures

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal of an Ohio law changing the standards for absentee and provisional ballots. The plaintiffs, including advocates for the homeless and the Ohio Democratic Party, sued Republican Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, claiming the changes created an illegal burden on minority voters. The justices left in place a lower court ruling blocking rules requiring precise completion of the ballots, but upheld other changes reducing the time voters could cure errors and prohibiting poll worker assistance.
