Columbus city officials say last week's test of a 35 million dollar ion exchange system at the Dublin Road water treatment plant was a success. The Department of Public Utilities had to warn residents about fertilizer and other contaminant runoff into the Scioto River raising nitrate levels the past two years. The system operates like an in-home water softener. Water tests show nitrate levels were returned to the acceptable limit.
