Columbus-Area Water Advisory Impacts Young Infants

City of Columbus

Columbus Division of Water officials say high levels of nitrates in tap water supplied to parts of downtown and the West side may make it unsafe for infants younger than 6 months of age. The division has issued a warning for areas served by the Dublin Road Water Plant, including Grandview heights, Grove City, Hilliard, Marble Cliff, Upper Arlington and Valleyview.  Columbus Utilities Director Greg Davies says nitrates caused by fertilizer runoff into the Scioto River from farms and lawns are to blame.

Davies says the advisory will remain in effect for at least the next ten days or until further notice.
