Student Charged With Plotting Hilliard School Shooting To Be Tried As Adult

Hilliard Police

A Franklin County judge has ordered a 17-year-old boy be tried as an adult on suspicion of plotting a shooting at Hilliard Davidson High school last year. John Staley III was arrested after another student alerted school officials with concerns about the alleged plot. No attack took place. Prosecutors say Staley had been bullied and allegedly devised the plot in retaliation.  The judge determined Staley is not an appropriate candidate for treatment in the juvenile system.
