Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan says interim police chief Kenneth Ball will stay on the job permanently. Ball succeeds James Nice, who resigned earlier this year at Horrigan's behest amid several problems in his department, and his alleged use of a racial slur in a private conversation. Horrigan also accused Nice of misconduct involving an investigation of his nephew, and having a sexual relationship with a member of the police force.
