Local Double-Murder Suspect Gets 66 Year Sentence

Columbus Division of Police

A Columbus man has been sentenced to at least 66 years in prison for killing his estranged wife and her brother outside his wife's day care center in April, 2015.

It's not clear why 27-year-old Roy Harvison fatally shot 29-year-old Jenea Harvison and 23-year-old Donell McDonald. Columbus police arrived just after the shootings and exchanged gunfire with Harvison, who was wounded. He pleaded guilty to aggravated murder charges to avoid the death penalty.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
