State Says GM Allowed Racist Behavior Against Black Employees At Toledo Plant

toledo.gm.com

The Ohio Civil Rights Commission says General Motors allowed the harassment of a black employee at the firm's plant in Toledo to go unchecked last year.

The commission documented the hanging of nooses, swastikas and other symbols of discrimination. An investigation also found white employees used racial slurs about black co-workers. The commission says GM seemed indifferent and its minimal steps didn't end the problems. The commission turned down GM's appeal of the findings on Thursday.
