The City of Columbus has joined a multi-state lawsuit - led by New York - seeking to block the Trump Administration from adding a citizenship question to the 2020 Census.

Klein says demanding the citizenship information would hinder census turnout and create fear and anxiety for many immigrant families. Our Lady of Guadalupe Center director and Columbus school board member Ramona Reyes agrees.
The citizenship question hasn't been in the census for all households since 1950. The Trump Administration has said it will help determine an accurate number of eligible voters. In announcing the decision in March, Commerce Secretary Wilbur Ross also said there's limited empirical evidence about whether adding the question would decrease response.
