A Franklin County judge says the City of Columbus' recently enacted ban on bump stocks is unconstitutional.
But judge David Cain ruled the city's new ordinance prohibiting the possession of a gun while under disability is enforceable. The measures were part of a series of gun regulations approved by City Council last May. Afterward, the pro-gun groups Ohioans for Concealed Carry and the Buckeye Firearms Foundation sued the city, saying the measures are in violation of state law. The two groups and Columbus City Attorney Zach Klein have issued statements claiming victory. The groups say the rulings protect second amendment rights. Klein says it's a win for 'common-sense' gun regulations, and believes the city has the authority to regulate bump stocks.
