Democratic State Representative Emilia Sykes wants Republican Governor John Kasich to help mediate her civil rights complaint.
The black lawmaker says she receives unfair treatment at security checkpoints at the Statehouse. The Ohio Highway Patrol has denied that. Sykes filed the complaint against four agencies, including the Ohio House and the Department of Public Safety. To avoid an investigation, Sykes wants Kasich to help get all sides to the table.
Kasich has yet to respond to the request.
