Columbus police are are investigating the shooting death of a longtime Westgate Recreation Center worker.
40-year-old Jwan Porter was shot early Tuesday in her home off Labelle Drive on the southeast side. Detectives say the initial evidence points to someone else inside the home mishandling a firearm. Police have arrested a suspect in the case. Eric Smith-Ross is charged with a weapons violation, but investigators say additional charges are possible. Smith-Ross has a lengthy criminal record.
