A Franklin County judge has denied the request of Columbus Crew owner Anthony Precourt and Major League Soccer to dismiss a lawsuit by the City of Columbus and the state seeking to block the team's move to Texas.
The city and state cited the so-called Art Modell law, but the defendants said it does not apply to them. The case may now proceed. Negotiations to keep the team in Columbus continue.
