Amid Corruption Indictment, Mayor Of Put-In-Bay Resigns

sanduskyregister.com

The mayor of the village of Put-In-Bay resigned Wednesday, four months after he was indicted on public corruption charges.

82-year-old Bernard McCann says there is no evidence to support the charges. State prosecutors say McCann used his position to secure a waterline project for a business associate. Put-in-Bay's former fiscal officer also was indicted, as were the mayor's two children who had jobs in the village.
