February Existing Home Sales Figures Released

Existing home sales in February rose from the previous month on the national, state and local levels.

The National Association of Realtors says existing U.S. home sales rose by 11.8 percent to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.51 million.

Industry analysts say sales were helped by rising wages and falling mortgage rates.

Ohio Realtors say 89 hundred existing homes were sold in February, up from the 81 hundred homes the trade association reported in January.

And the Columbus Realtors trade association reports nearly 18 hundred homes were sold in its multi-county region last month, up 8.9 percent from January.

The national median sale price last month rose by 2.8 percent to more than 247 thousand dollars.

The statewide average sale price was more than 184 thousand dollars, up from 168 thousand in January.

Locally, the average sale price rose by roughly 12 thousand to more than 220 thousand dollars.
