Ceremonies are scheduled today in Columbus to mark Ohio's portion of a coast-to-coast multi-use trail on former railroad routes.
The Great American Rail-Trail will run 36-hundred miles across 12 states and Washington D-C. Eric Oberg with the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy says Ohio's portion includes the Ohio to Erie Trail from Cincinnati to Cleveland.
There were 500 miles of rail-trails in the U,S. 30 years ago. This route has been in the works for some time, and Oberg says connecting all of it will take time.
