Gahanna Settles Income Tax Lawsuit

gahanna.gov

The City of Gahanna has agreed to pay 9.1 million dollars to settle a class-action lawsuit over income-tax overpayments.

The Regional Income Tax Authority - a collection agency - has approved a 400 thousand dollar payment. It was a co-defendant. The deal goes before a judge this summer for approval. The class-action lawsuit filed in 2012 involves overpayments by more than 17 thousand residents from 2009 through 2014. The two sides disagreed on interpretations of the tax code.
