Inmate At Local Prison Hospital Contracts Legionnaires' Disease

Facebook

State prisons officials say an inmate at the Franklin Medical Center on Harmon Avenue was diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease over the weekend.

Prisons department officials have not released the name of the 69-year-old man, who is in a Columbus hospital in stable condition. The area of the center where the man was staying  is being inspected to determine the source. He is the fifth inmate since 2017 to contract the bacteria.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
