Fayette County will pay less for the construction of a new jail.
County Commissioner Tony Anderson says the interest rate for the loan to fund construction is 3.5 percent, lower than the original 4 percent estimated. That will cut the project cost by 1.5 million dollars. County Commissioners signed the loan papers this week. Voters in May approved a levy and construction bond.
