Portman Breaks With Trump On Asking China And Ukraine To Investigate Biden

cleveland.com

U.S. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio is the fourth Republican senator to break ranks by criticizing President Trump for seeking help from foreign governments to investigate a political rival.

Portman said Monday in Columbus that Trump asking Ukraine and China to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son was "not appropriate." But Portman says he does not view it as an impeachable offense. Senators Mitt Romney, Ben Sasse and Susan Collins have criticized Trump's comments about China, which further fueled the impeachment inquiry in the U.S. House of Representatives.
