The Licking County youth football coach charged with assaulting a referee on Sunday pleaded not guilty on Monday.
Sheriff's deputies say 37-year-old Christopher Deason got into an altercation with the referee who tried to break up a scuffle between players on the Licking Valley and Watkins Memorial teams not affiliated with the schools. Deputies say more arrests and charges are possible. Deason was released on his own recognizance.
