Judge Revokes Citizenship Of Former Columbus-Area Resident Convicted Of Terrorism

cnn.com

A federal judge has stripped a Pakistan-born terrorist who resided in the Columbus area of his U.S. citizenship, siding with the government in the case.

50-year-old Iyman Faris was convicted and sentenced in 2003 for plotting with Al-Qaida to destroy New York’s Brooklyn Bridge. His was among the first and highest-profile terrorism cases after the 9/11 attacks. The government argued that Faris lied on immigration papers before becoming a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1999. Faris is scheduled to be released from prison in August.
