A man convicted of killing a Columbus woman and dumping the body at Alum Creek State Park has been sentenced to 18 years to life in prison.
John Bartheolomew pleaded guilty to murder, gross abuse of a corpse and a gun charges in the 2019 death of 28-year-old Brittany McDowell. Court documents show Bartheolomew told Delaware County Sheriff's deputies he picked McDowell up while she was working as a prostitute on Sullivant Avenue. Court documents also show a dispute ensued, leading to her death. Authorities have said that McDowell had a criminal record with multiple arrests for solicitation.
