Flooding Forces Closure Of A Portion Of I-71 On The South Side

Columbus police last night closed I-71 north and south between State Route 104 and I-70 because of flooding.

It's not clear when the roadway will reopen. And Franklin County engineers have raised the floodwall between Greenlawn and Harmon Avenues and Harmon between Frank and Hart Roads for  the second time in the last four years to combat high water.  Columbus fire crews rescued more than 40 people from their homes Tuesday in the area of Stormcroft Avenue and Cooper Roads because of flooding. No injuries are reported but several homes were damaged. Residents say frequent flooding in their neighborhood is a problem.
