The Newport Music Hall on North High Street in the OSU campus area is now for sale.
Booking firm PromoWest Productions says the sale will not affect their lease, which runs through 2035. The venue opened in 1923 as a movie theater before becoming the Agora Ballroom concert hall. It became the Newport in 1984 and bills itself as America's longest continually running rock club. The 17-hundred seat venue has hosted hundreds of acts including U2, The Ramones, Pearl Jam, The Band, James Brown, Neil Young, Green Day, and B.B. King.
