Puppy Recovering After Being Set On Fire

Columbus Division of Fire

Columbus authorities are seeking the public's help in identifying who set a small dog on fire at an east side park.

Fire officials say it happened on Sunday between 11:30 am and 12:30 pm at Walnut Hill Park near Walnut Hill Road and Saranac Drive.

Firefighters found a dog cage on fire and the puppy nearby with burns and plastic melted to her back. The dog is recovering well and has been adopted by animal hospital staff.

Fire investigators are working with Columbus Humane to identify who's responsible for injuring the puppy. They're also asking for the public’s help in identifying the dog, or the former owner.

Anyone with more information is encouraged to contact the Columbus Fire and Explosives Investigation Unit at 614 645 3011.
