Columbus Police Investigate Another Shooting At Polaris

Columbus Police

For the second time in less than two weeks, Columbus Police are investigating a shooting at Polaris Fashion Place. Witnesses inside the mall told WCBE they heard as many as three gunshots at around 3:00 Monday afternoon. Columbus Police Sgt. James Fuqua said the shooting stemmed from an altercation between two groups of young people on the mall's first level. There were no injuries reported. Police cleared the building but continue to investigate.

Another shooting took place at Polaris March 3. Authorities identified the suspects in that incident as 21-year-old Anthony Truss Jr. and 25-year-old Levon Lewis Sommerville. Fugua said both remain at large as of Monday afternoon. While police do not suspect any connection to today's shooting, they aren't ruling anything out.

Mike Foley joined WCBE in February 2000, coming from WUFT in Gainesville, Florida. Foley has worked in various roles, from producing news and feature stories to engineering Live From Studio A sessions. A series of music features Foley started in 2018 called Music Journeys has grown into a podcast and radio show. He also assists in developing other programs in WCBE's Podcast Experience. Foley hosts The Morning Mix, a weekday music show featuring emerging and established musicians, our Columbus-area and Ohio-based talent, and additional artists that inspire him.
