Civil Rights Group Suing Huntington Bank

A civil rights group is suing Columbus-based Huntington Bank, alleging the firm improperly closed the personal and business accounts of hundreds of Arab-Americans. The Arab-American Civil Rights League says people in Ohio and other states have complained that their accounts were closed for no apparent reason. The group says Huntington informed Arab-American account holders about it in March but did not say why.  A bank spokesperson says Huntington does not comment on pending litigation, but is reviewing the lawsuit. Meanwhile, The Council on American-Islamic Relations has asked the Treasury Department to investigate JPMorgan Chase for improperly closing the bank accounts of Arab-Americans.
