FBI Investigating Whether KSU Professor Has Ties To ISIS

Kent State University

A Kent State University professor will remain in the classroom amid an investigation into possible ties with islamic state militants. FBI agent Donna Cambiero says history professor Julio Pino has been the subject of a probe for the past 18 months.

Cambeiro would not confirm reports agents were on campus interviewing teachers and students on Tuesday. KSU says Pino converted to the Muslim faith in 2002. Pino denies any connection to the group and says he suspects being outspoken about unrest in the Middle East prompted the investigation.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
