Former Local Postal Worker Cleared Of Killing Two Colleagues

Franklin County Sheriff's Office

The man charged with killing two U.S. Postal Service workers in Dublin  has been found not guilty by reason of insanity.

25-year-old DeShaune Stewart was charged in the 2017 deaths of his supervisors, Lance Dempsey and Ginger Ballard. Psychologists determined Stewart had manic and psychotic episodes at the time and was not fully aware of his actions. He will be evaluated by the court to determine whether he remains a threat to others.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
