The former Pike County Sheriff has pleaded guilty to five charges including theft in office and will be officially removed from his job.
13 charges contained in the indictment against Charles Reader were dropped in a plea deal. Reader was charged with taking money seized in drug trafficking cases to fund his drug habit . Reader was suspended in 2019. His effort to run for re-election this fall was squashed when he failed to collect enough vailid petition signatures to qualify for the ballot. He is scheduled to be sentenced October 5th.
