The Columbus Board of Health has approved revised regulations and permit fees for people who raise chickens and other barnyard animals in their backyards. Permit fees will be lowered from 150 to 100 dollars and more room for chicks is now allowed. Health officials will be allowed to confiscate animals that endanger public health or safety. The rules were prompted by hundreds of complaints over barnyard animals and their waste, as more people became urban farmers.
