Trump Nominee To Federal Reserve Made Disparaging Remark About Cleveland And Cincinnati

nytimes.com

President Trump's nominee for a seat on the Federal Reserve Board is under fire for a comment he made about Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Stephen Moore was caught on camera in 2014 calling the two cities the "armpits of America."

Democratic U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown of Ohio is demanding an apology and a retraction. He says the comments disqualify Moore for a critical role.  CNN on Monday reported Moore wrote columns for the "National Review" in the 2000s decrying the “feminization of basketball,” denouncing coed sports and arguing that women should be barred from refereeing or covering men’s basketball games — unless they are good-looking. Moore also wrote that female athletes were seeking “equal pay for inferior work” and lamented, “Is there no area in life where men can take vacation from women?”
