My Experience at WCBE

My name is Nadia Cummings. I am a junior at Eastmoor Academy High School. My favorite subjects in school are math and gym. I plan on attending a four year college in Atlanta after I graduate high school. although I'm not sure what I want to major in yet. Some things I enjoy doing outside of school are hanging out with my friends, going to church and volunteering. I also love to play Softball. I have been playing for 3 years as a first baseman and occasionally the pitcher.

Coming to WCBE I planned to gain personable and communication skills. My experience as a summer intern at WCBE has been pretty cool. For one the staff is great. I didn't know how I would fit in coming in as a high school student but everyone was so friendly and welcomed me in. I was greeted with a smile every morning I came in and they made me feel like I was part of the team. Especially Jim Coe. He occasionally gives me insight on information that will be very helpful in my future and also offered me to come back as an intern during the school year. And don't let me forget about Dan Mushalko ! He was always so happy and friendly and never failed to put a smile on my face whenever he walked through the door with another one of his funky outfits !

One of my favorite things i have done here was make a promo. I was so nervous but with Heathers' patience and help, I think I did a pretty decent job. it was surreal hearing my voice on top of music talking about a show, but I loved it. It made me feel like I was actually part of a radio cast. I also enjoyed sitting at the front desk as the secretary for a few weeks. Answering the phones actually helped me get to know the staff a little better. I had to quickly learn what each member did to accurately transfer calls over. Doing this is training for a potential career in the future. This can also go onto my resume. I also got to greet bands as they came in. It was cool seeing different kinds of musicians come in and play live. There's nothing like sitting next to a radio and listening to the music while being able to watch what you hear. I have really enjoyed my summer interning here and I plan on coming back to visit later on.
