10am - Afterglow – Let’s Begin: A New Year’s Special
As we say goodbye to one year and say hello to another, its an hour of music from the American Songbook all about beginnings, sung by some favorites like Frank Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald and more. We’ll hear a couple of “New Year” related songs, including “Let’s Start The New Year Off Right.” We’ll also hear some standards about fresh starts, like “I’m Beginning to See The Light,” “Begin The Beguine,” and “This Could Be The Start Of Something Big.” And Nat King Cole will provide us with some advice for starting over again.
11am - Miles Davis in France
Miles Davis Quintet members Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter, George Coleman, and Marcus Moore captured live in France.
12pm - All Songs Considered Holiday Special
This year Robin Hilton and Stephen Thomson head back to the snowy cabin in the woods where the annual All Songs Considered get-togethers began many years ago. Join us as we attempt to throw another party for the ages, with one simple, fate-tempting question: What could possibly go wrong?
