We're looking for a talented salesperson who recognizes the value of public radio to secure business underwriting from regional businesses and organizations.
This commission-based contracted sales position targets potential central Ohio region corporate sponsorship of music programming, student-produced creative content, and various digital assets. In addition to prospecting for new businesses, this position will assist the Sponsorship Director in managing current accounts to ensure timely collection and increase renewal revenue.
The sales representative compiles personal weekly sales and activities reports, works remotely with the Sponsorship Director to ensure contract confirmations are accurate and that the sponsorship announcements are written, approved, scheduled and run appropriately and shall submit detailed monthly invoices itemizing all commissionable transactions.
Other opportunities include working with other station departments including marketing, membership and events as necessary.
Qualifications:
At least two years of hands-on experience in sales, corporate promotion, or marketing required. Experience in selling radio and/or television advertising will be an advantage. Familiarity with copywriting and general database systems will be helpful as well.
- Three to five (3-5) years of sales experience and/or training or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience;
- Excellent sales leadership, interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, excellent written and communication skills;
- Experience with generating new/active leads along with the implementation of sales-organization within database software.
Responsibilities:
- Meet or exceed the underwriting sales goal on a monthly basis.
- Follow the procedures for setting individual salesperson and station budget goals.
- Effective evaluation of market performance and development of action items to maximize. revenue potential in the market.
- Attend goal and strategy meetings as needed with the sales team either remotely or on-site to review sales pacing, results, and activity.
Job Type: Contract. This agreement shall be in effect for Fiscal Year 2026, subject to review and potential renewal based on performance and departmental needs.
Pay: Commission. Commission Rate: 30% of the total business underwriting contract for newly acquired clients; 20% of the premium for renewed policies Applicable to existing clients who renew their business underwriting contacts during FY-2026
