Memorial Day Radio Specials on WCBE FM

Tune in to 90.5FM this Monday, starting at 9am, for a variety of radio specials, including a Memorial Day documentary about the General Nelson M. Walker troopship, and music documentaries about The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, and Michael Jackson!

9AM   With Good Reason: Messages from a Forgotten Troopship: In the 1960s, it took almost three weeks to cross the sea from America to Vietnam. Three weeks for young men in crowded cabins with salt water showers and absolutely nothing to do but think about home, the war, and what might be next. In this Memorial Day special episode we focus on a single troopship, the General Nelson M. Walker , and a few of the soldiers who traveled on it.

10AM-12PM   The Beatles in America - 1964: When The Beatles arrived in the United States in February of 1964, no one could have anticipated the tremendous impact the band would have on the development of American popular music and pop culture. Paul Ingles hosts The Beatles in America - 1964 and takes listeners back to when The Beatles and America first got to know one another. The Beatles in America - 1964 includes plenty of hits from that year, but in true public radio form, it also showcases lesser-heard gems from early Beatle's albums that fans wore through. Join us for a thrilling walk down musical memory lane.

12PM-2PM   Led Zeppelin Radio Special: Featuring such classics as "Good Times Bad Times,"  "Dazed and Confused," "Communication Breakdown," "Whole Lotta Love," "Ramble On," "Immigrant Song" and "Since I've Been Loving You," this special will also include some of the bonus tracks from the deluxe reissues of Led Zeppelin I, II, and III from Rhino Records (June 3rd release), as well as brand new interviews with Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones.

2PM   Michael Jackson Xscape Special: Epic Records has released XSCAPE, an album of new music by Michael Jackson. This album was produced and curated by L.A. Reid (Epic Records). Hosted by Chris Booker and featuring L.A. Reid, this program will give Michael Jackson fans an intimate look into the process of putting together XSCAPE, while also featuring seven of the eight new Michael Jackson songs.
